Loftus Cheek hits three against BATE

Having seen his game-time
reduced this season by manager Maurizio Sarri, Loftus Cheek helped himself to a
hat-trick to remind the Italian of just how good he was when given the chance
to prove himself.
Loftus Cheek had not scored a
goal for the blues in almost two years but scored twice under the opening eight
minute as a second string Chelsea side overcame their opponents with relative
ease. Two minutes after kick-off, Zappacosta made his way down the right flank
and sent his cut-back to Loftus-Cheek who made no mistake by hitting the back
of the net without hesitation.
His second can be attributed
to good positioning with the midfielder well positioned to side-foot Willians
cross into the back of the net and leaving BATE’s goal-keeper Denis Scherbitski
stunned. A chance created by Loftus Cheek in his own half saw Pedro make his
way down the left flank and when he was finally dispossessed, the midfielder
was once again on hand to complete his hat-trick with a sensational strike.
Exciting young Chelsea
prospect Callum Hodson Odoi was then brought on for the remaining 30 minutes
and duly showed why he is regarded highly by the Chelsea coaching staff.
Although BATE added a consolation late on, this was by far a good night
for Sarri’s team as Chelsea's second string side proved they were too hot to handle for
Belarus best team.
