Welbeck strikes to continue Arsenal’s winning streak

The game kicked off and not
long after, Bruno Fernandes spurned an early chance over the bar for the home
home team after which Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s well struck free-kick was kept away
by Sporting CP’s goalkeeper: Ribeiro. Nani then struck his effort over the top
corner after which Sporting fans were angered by refree Damir Skomia decision
not to award them a foul as Fredy Montero was clearly pulled back by Arsenal
defender Sokratis when he raced through on goal.
Sporting’s Ribeiro was called
into action twice to deny Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in the opening
stages of the second-half. Ribeiro was finaly beaten as Danny Welbeck’s header
crashed into the back of the net, but the striker’s celebration was cut short
and the goal disallowed as refree Skomia had earlier blown for a foul.
However, Welbeck was focused
and determined to get his name on the scoresheet and that was exactly what
happened after he was gifted an opportunity from Sebastian Coates error. The
England International ran off to celebrate with his team-mates as they
continued their winning streak under manager Unai Emery.
